Wolverhampton take on the visitors Manchester United in the round 15 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Monday, December 8th at Molineux Stadium (Wolverhampton).
Wolverhampton have once again fallen back to the level they were at a year ago. The Wolves somehow keep avoiding relegation to the Championship, even though they are no longer a threat to the favourites and have stopped competing for European spots. At the end of 2024 it seemed that nothing could save them from dropping down a division, but the decision to appoint Vítor Pereira turned out to be a masterstroke at that moment. However, while he did an excellent job last season, this time he proved powerless to deliver any sort of progress. The Portuguese coach was dismissed last month, yet things did not improve — the Wanderers continued losing to nearly every opponent. This week they were again defeated at home by Nottingham Forest, failing to respond to Igor Jesus’s second-half goal. The current run of consecutive losses highlights how fragile Wolves have become when trying to control matches. Even in games where they start well, they often fade quickly and struggle to create momentum.

Manchester United have been unable to find a worthy successor to Ferguson. They were patient with Ten Hag and waited for progress, yet dismissed him only after the start of last season. But Ruben Amorim was unable to deliver improvement either — in fact, the team collapsed to 15th place in the Premier League with just 42 points. Yes, in spring they clearly focused on the Europa League, but the current manager failed to reproduce the kind of success that another Portuguese coach, Mourinho, once achieved — United lost the final to Tottenham. The coach was not sacked even after their League Cup exit to fourth-division Grimsby and a series of poor league results. Yet soon afterwards came a surge strong enough for the young manager to be named Premier League Manager of the Month. In November, however, they drew 2–2 with both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham, then lost to Everton despite having a man advantage for about 80 minutes. After beating Crystal Palace 2–1, they managed only a draw with West Ham. Although United show flashes of improved form, they still struggle to maintain intensity across several fixtures in a row. Their inconsistency often turns promising runs into short-lived bursts rather than long-term progress.
Manchester United had lost four consecutive head-to-head meetings. But last season they were beaten by Wolves in both encounters. This is a rare case where United are deserved favourites even away from home. Back the Red Devils to win.
Prediction for the match: Manchester United to win.
