West Ham take on the visitors Arsenal in the round 36 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Sunday, May 10th at London Stadium (London).
West Ham once again found themselves battling against relegation. “The Hammers” — or rather their management — remain highly ambitious, and in many ways they have suffered because of those ambitions. It would seem that David Moyes even delivered a European trophy, yet he was still dismissed in the summer two years ago. Without the Scot, and despite heavy spending on new signings, the club have spent a second straight season fighting near the bottom of the Premier League table. Their recent home form has at least shown some signs of life, with the team looking far more aggressive going forward than they did earlier in the campaign. Still, defensive instability continues to punish them regularly, especially against opponents with quick transitions. The only somewhat positive run came in the domestic cup, though even there the journey ended in a quarter-final elimination against Leeds United on penalties. Around the same time, they managed to create a small gap above the relegation zone, although there was still no room to relax during the spring. And that concern proved justified: after several positive results, including a win over Everton FC, they were demolished by Brentford FC, allowing neighboring rivals Tottenham Hotspur FC to push them down into 18th place.

Arsenal have unquestionably improved enormously since appointing former captain Mikel Arteta as head coach. Under the Spaniard, Arsenal quickly returned to the level of an elite club, but tangible success in the form of major trophies continued to elude them. It seemed this season would finally become the long-awaited breakthrough, but once again the “Red-and-Whites” lost momentum during the decisive stretch. Arsenal’s recent away performances have actually been quite convincing, especially in matches where they managed to control possession early and dictate the tempo. The team also look mentally sharper again after briefly surrendering the initiative in the title race a few weeks ago. Losing the League Cup final to Manchester City FC was one thing, but immediately afterward they were knocked out of the more prestigious FA Cup by Southampton FC, a side spending this season in the Championship. Then they also allowed City to catch them in the Premier League title race. However, a week ago the “Citizens” slipped up against Everton, and by beating Fulham FC Arsenal regained pole position in the race. At the same time, in the UEFA Champions League, after cruising through the league phase with eight wins, the English side edged past Sporting CP in the quarter-finals thanks to a single goal. The semi-final against Atlético Madrid was hardly more entertaining, but most importantly it ended successfully for Arsenal: 1-1 in Madrid and 1-0 at home.
The last six meetings between the sides have been perfectly balanced, with three wins each, including victories traded during 2025. Both teams desperately need the win, but Arsenal still look the more likely side to get it, even away from home.
Prediction for the match: Arsenal to win.
