Fiorentina have recently built a reputation for consistent, if not spectacular, success. Last season they also delivered a solid result, finishing with 65 points and edging S.S. Lazio for 6th place on tie-breakers. Only the cup triumph of Bologna FC 1909 pushed them back into the UEFA Europa Conference League, where they are now in the playoffs. The summer decision to replace Raffaele Palladino with Stefano Pioli initially turned into a failure domestically, as the experienced coach struggled to get results. Only after another coaching change, when Paolo Vanoli took over in winter, did things start to improve, with victories following. They even thrashed U.S. Cremonese 4-1. In the latest round against Inter Milan, despite conceding early, they managed to respond and secure a draw. Their current form looks much more stable, with positive momentum in recent matches. Fiorentina are now showing resilience and are capable of taking points even against stronger sides.
Interestingly, despite being rated much higher, the “Viola” have lost three of the last four meetings, with only one win. Verona even managed to beat them earlier this season, in mid-December. The visitors have not yet fully secured their position in Serie A. The pick is Fiorentina to win.
