Fiorentina were led by Vincenzo Italiano until the summer. Under him, the club finished 8th in Serie A two years in a row and lost back-to-back UEFA Conference League finals. Interestingly, his replacement, Raffaele Palladino, nearly crashed out of Europe in the summer qualifiers. They only edged past Puskás Akadémia in a penalty shootout, but eventually made it to the semi-finals. After a 1-2 loss in Seville against Betis, Fiorentina won the return leg by the same scoreline — but conceded the decisive goal in extra time. In Serie A, they are still trying to climb a little higher than Italiano’s eighth-place finish. Last week, they suffered a setback, losing to direct rivals Roma.
