Valencia vs Oviedo Prediction 29 September 2025

Valencia take on the visitors Oviedo in the round 7 match of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Monday, September 29th at Estadio de Mestalla (Valencia).

Valencia hope to avoid repeating their familiar scenario. “Los Ches,” under current owner Peter Lim, have been chronically troubled and regularly fighting for survival. In 2024 they were saved from relegation by Baraja, once a cult midfielder of the title-winning generation. But last season his methods completely stopped working. Thankfully, before the second half of the campaign they paid compensation for Carvalhal, and Carlos managed to steer the team clear of danger with relative comfort. After the summer break, however, a new challenge begins. For now the Bats have shown a mixed but relatively solid level given their current status. After a 1-1 home draw with Real Sociedad, they lost away to Osasuna, before ending the summer with a thrashing of Getafe. In September they were demolished 0-6 by Barcelona, but bounced back with a win over a struggling Athletic. Against Espanyol they were two goals up but had to settle for a 2-2 draw. Still, Valencia’s attacking line has looked more dynamic compared to the previous season. Their inconsistency remains a concern, but the squad is showing signs of resilience in tight fixtures.

Oviedo had long since been relegated from La Liga. In fact, they nearly went bankrupt. Step by step, they worked their way back to the Segunda and stayed there for years. Somewhat surprisingly, two seasons ago they managed to sneak into the top six at the very last moment, even reaching the decisive playoff round, though they eventually fell to the more experienced Espanyol. Fortunately, that did not discourage them, and their second attempt this summer was successful — again reaching the playoffs, but this time winning promotion. At the higher level, however, life has been tough. The newcomer has only managed to beat a struggling Real Sociedad, while suffering several scoreless defeats. Even against fellow promoted side Elche they fell 0-1. This week in Barcelona they even took the lead, but conceded three times after the break against the champions. Their defense has already looked fragile, with 12 goals conceded in just four games. On the other hand, their work rate and determination have earned them respect despite the results.

Valencia are unbeaten in the last nine head-to-head matches, winning four times. However, the last meeting between the two sides dates back to 2001. The hosts are clearly stronger — the bet is on them to defeat the newcomers.

Prediction for the match: Valencia to win.
