Turkey take on Portugal in the round 2 match of UEFA Euro-2024 group stage. The match will be played on Saturday, June 22nd at Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund).
The match between Turkey and Georgia in the opening group stage of the Euro turned out to be extremely exciting and interesting. One could argue that Georgia is inherently the underdog of their group and one of the weakest teams in the tournament. And that Turkey struggled to defeat them. However, it cannot be overlooked that the "Crescent Stars" were superb in attack. They combined well, dribbled past opponents, and took long shots. The second goal was an absolute stunner. What am I getting at? Certainly, Portugal will not allow as many chances in front of their goal as Georgia did. But the sharp Turkish attack is capable of scoring at least once against their opponent.

Portugal also won their first match, although it was nerve-wracking. In terms of expected goals (xG), the "European Brazilians" annihilated their opponents: 1.82 to 0.22. They outshot the Czechs 19 to 5, were better in shots on target 8 to 1, and also dominated corners 13 to 0. But they conceded first from a long shot (let's remember that the Turks are also adept at shooting from outside the penalty area). To be fair, Portugal was playing better than their opponent both before and after conceding. And even though they only managed to secure victory in the 93rd minute, they did so. Additionally, let me remind you that Portugal scored 36 goals in 10 Euro qualifying matches, the most of any team. Cristiano Ronaldo and company should be able to find the key to unlock Turkey's somewhat unreliable defense. However, they are also quite capable of conceding.
After all, in terms of squad strength, they look much stronger than their opponent. However, there is no confidence in a victory for the nominal visitors, especially considering that against the Czechs, Cristiano Ronaldo and his team only managed to snatch the three points in added time. But there is no doubt about a goal from the "European Brazilians." Turkey played well in attack in their first group stage match. Of course, Georgia is not Portugal, but the "Crescent Stars" are capable of finding the net against Martinez's team at least once.
Prediction for the match: Both teams to score – yes.
