Tottenham take on the visitors Burnley in the round 37 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Saturday, April 11th at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium (London).
If Tottenham doesn't stop losing, they could not only lose their place in the Champions League zone, which is becoming increasingly difficult for them to snatch from Aston Villa with each passing match, but also miss out on the Europa League. After all, Newcastle have closed in from behind, now just four points away. Spurs have suffered four consecutive defeats in the league. Yes, they lost to strong opponents in all those matches. Burnley, however, is the perfect opponent to break the losing streak. Most likely, that's what will happen in the end. But Tottenham's defense is so unreliable that it's quite believable they'll concede at least one, if not more, goals. Even if we disregard the 10 goals conceded in the last four matches (against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle), it's evident that Spurs have only kept a clean sheet once in 15 Premier League matches in 2024.

I won't discuss Burnley's chances of avoiding relegation because they're practically at zero. But Vincent Kompany's men have been scoring against almost everyone lately. There are even instances where they've scored twice in a single match. They scored four against Sheffield, twice each against West Ham, Brentford, Fulham, and Chelsea. They also managed to score against opponents like Man United, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Manchester City, all examples from Burnley's spring matches. However poor they may be defensively, they find attacking opportunities in every game. I believe Burnley are capable of scoring once or twice against Tottenham, whose defense has been particularly poor this spring.
Arguing that Spurs are the favorites in this match would be foolish. In previous matches, they've lost to teams that Burnley can't even compare with. However, it's also undeniable that Tottenham have a lot of defensive issues, and their defense sometimes resembles a sieve. Burnley simply has nowhere to retreat; they play as best they can, including in attack. They concede a lot, of course, but they also score decently and fairly consistently for a Premier League underdog. I have almost no doubts that Burnley will score against Tottenham, and who knows, they might even score a second. In the first round of this season, Vincent Kompany's side suffered a heavy defeat at home to this opponent but managed to breach the opposition goalkeeper's net twice (2-5). My prediction is Over 1.5 goals for Burnley.
Prediction for the match: Burnley to score over 1.5 goals.
