Switzerland take on Germany in the round 3 match of UEFA Euro-2024 group stage. The match will be played on Sunday, June 23rd at Deutsche Bank Park (Frankfurt).
Switzerland has successfully prepared for this tournament. The "Nati" have long been regulars at major championships. This was true under Petković, and Murat Yakin also led them to the World Cup, qualifying ahead of Italy. However, in last year's qualifiers, after a strong start, they significantly slowed down, managing to win only against modest Andorra. They ended 2023 with a loss to Romania but still qualified for the tournament. Nevertheless, they had some good performances in friendly matches, winning against Ireland and Estonia, while drawing with stronger teams like Denmark and Austria. Switzerland started the Euro tournament well by scoring twice in the first half against Hungary. Although Hungary created problems after the break, Switzerland finished with a solid 3-1 win. The match against Scotland was less impressive, but thanks to another masterpiece by Shaqiri, they managed to secure a draw, which practically guaranteed their spot in the playoffs.

Germany hadn't shown serious results for a long time – essentially 10 years since their triumphant victory at the 2014 World Cup. In the following two World Cups, they didn't make it out of the group stage. When they also failed to deliver in friendly matches in 2023, with neither good performances nor results, Flick was fired, the first of all German national team coaches to be dismissed. Nagelsmann also didn't impress in the fall but seemed to identify the issues and in the spring assembled a largely new team that finally started playing good football and securing victories. Only Ukraine managed to hold on for a goalless draw in June, albeit with some luck. Germany thrashed Scotland in the opening match, taking an early lead and ending 5-1, largely due to an own goal by Rüdiger. The game against Hungary was more controlled, with an assist and goal by Gündogan securing a 2-0 victory.
In 2012, the "neutrals" finally won against their neighbors. In the Nations League, when the teams last met, the matches ended in draws. The odds favor the Germans. However, they've already secured their place and may experiment. We predict "Total Over 2.5 Goals."
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 scored goals.
