Scotland take on the visitors Denmark in a World Cup 2026 qualification match. The match will be played on Tuesday, November 18th at
Scotland are generally maintaining a solid level. The Tartan Army have not yet returned to the World Cup — Ukraine denied them a place in Qatar by winning the play-off at the same stadium. Even so, they have qualified for two consecutive European Championships and competed in Nations League A, finishing third in their group there. In March, however, the Highlanders lost their play-out tie against Greece. But the revenge didn’t take long, as they beat that team, as well as Belarus twice, in the current qualification campaign after a goalless draw in Copenhagen. By November, the situation was clear: all that remained was to determine the group winner. In the previous match, facing Greece away — a team already without motivation — they somehow managed to lose 2-3 in a game with goals at both ends, even finishing the match with a numerical advantage. Recent performances show that Scotland often start matches with good structure but struggle to maintain consistency throughout ninety minutes. At the same time, their home form this year has generally been reliable, and they tend to create more chances at Hampden than on the road.

Denmark played for a long time, and generally with success, under Kasper Hjulmand. The dramatic Euro 2020 campaign stands out, especially after losing Eriksen in the opening match. The disappointment, however, came later at the World Cup in Qatar. The coach left only in 2024, after guiding the team to the knockout rounds of the European Championship, albeit without particularly bright football. In the Nations League, Denmark had a real chance in March to eliminate Portugal, but the future champions overturned the 0-1 first-leg defeat in extra-time. In the current qualification, Brian Riemer and his side seemed to stumble at the start with a 0-0 home draw against this same opponent. But they followed it with only victories, scoring no fewer than three goals in each. Against Belarus on Saturday, they opened the scoring early, then conceded twice within a few minutes — and ultimately had to settle for a draw.
Nevertheless, Denmark’s overall rhythm in recent months has been impressive, with the team consistently controlling matches and showing strong away performances. They have also become more efficient in converting their chances, which has directly contributed to their stable results.
Before the current play-off, the teams met in World Cup qualifying. They exchanged home victories with the same score: 2-0. The hosts will have no choice but to attack and take risks, and the higher-quality visitors should be able to capitalise on that. We back an away win for Denmark.
Prediction for the match: Denmark to win.
