Club Brugge have long been a major force in Belgium, and in recent years they’ve been the most consistent winners. Their main rival has become Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, who were edged out in 2023, giving Ronny Deila his first big achievement at the helm. However, in 2024/25 Brugge surrendered the league title to Union. They did earn a measure of revenge with a 2-1 Super Cup triumph in July, though early domestic results have already shown dropped points.
