PSG have long become a powerhouse thanks to Qatari investment, especially on the national stage. In 2025 they finally won the Champions League, and not only that — the year turned out to be extremely fruitful overall, with the only missed trophy being the Club World Cup, where they suffered a heavy defeat to Chelsea in the final. Even so, the new season has brought its share of problems. In the Champions League, the holders of the famous trophy had to begin the knockout stage already in February. Recently, however, they have managed to stabilize their results somewhat, especially in domestic matches where they have been collecting points more consistently. Their performances have still looked less dominant than a year ago, but the team remains highly effective when facing opponents from the lower half of the table. During the winter they also added the Super Cup, although they only managed to edge past their old rivals Marseille in a penalty shootout. In Ligue 1, they struggled to create real distance from Lens for a long time. Only in the latest rounds, after defeating Metz and Le Havre and taking advantage of a dip in their rival’s form, did they finally secure sole possession of first place.

Monaco clearly expected more from the current season. The Monégasques, after the previous failure, placed their trust in Hütter. He justified that decision by immediately guiding the team to a runners-up finish, and in the 2024/2025 campaign, alongside solid performances on the international stage, they finished third in Ligue 1. However, after a series of poor results at the start of the new football year, Adi was replaced by Pocognoli. Lately the team has looked slightly more competitive in league matches, managing to pick up points more regularly than during their worst stretch earlier in the season. Still, consistency remains an issue, and their performances continue to fluctuate from round to round. The only notable success under the new coach has been reaching the Champions League knockout stage, where in February they faced PSG. At home, despite leading 2–0, they eventually collapsed and lost, while in the away match they fought hard but still ended with a 2–2 draw. In the cup they lasted until February, when they lost to Strasbourg at the beginning of the month. In Ligue 1, constant slip-ups pushed them close to the middle of the table. Still, in the latest rounds they managed consecutive wins over Lens — indirectly helping the title favorite — and Angers, climbing at least to 7th place, although closing the gap to the teams above will remain extremely difficult.
The Parisian giant has won six of the last nine meetings against the opponent from the Mediterranean principality. There is strong belief in the success of the Parisians. Considering the outcome of their recent encounters, a bet on both teams to score looks reasonable.
