PSG vs Monaco Prediction 25 February 2026

PSG take on the visitors Monaco in the second leg of UEFA Champions League round of 1/16-finals. First leg result: 3-2. The match will be played on Wednesday, February 25th at Parc des Princes (Paris).

Paris Saint-Germain managed to lift the Champions League Cup last season, and in the final they demolished Inter 5–0. But that was only one, albeit the brightest, episode of an almost flawless year. They collected an impressive haul of trophies overall, with only Chelsea managing to beat the French side in the Club World Cup final in the summer. It is no surprise that one of the project’s key players, Ousmane Dembélé, received the Ballon d’Or in the autumn. This season, however, not everything has gone smoothly, and it was no coincidence that the giant lost in the cup to their modest neighbor, Paris FC. In the Champions League, the holders of the trophy have also been far from impressive, although they did beat Barcelona away from home — yet since November, in the last five group-stage rounds, there was only one win, against Tottenham Hotspur. Still, in the 2024/2025 campaign, the eventual winners reached the playoffs with even greater difficulty. Recently, PSG have looked less dominant but remain extremely hard to beat at home. Their experience in knockout matches often compensates for uneven form during the group stage.

Monaco have only multiplied their problems. After the previous downturn in 2023, the Monegasques appointed Hütter as head coach. He immediately guided the team to the French runners-up spot — essentially achieving the maximum possible — and last spring they finished third. But after the first setbacks of the current football year, including a 1–4 defeat in Bruges in the opening round against Club Brugge, the Austrian was dismissed. He was replaced by Pocognoli, but things have not gone well under him almost anywhere: in Ligue 1 his side slipped into mid-table, and in the cup they lost to Strasbourg earlier this month. Only in the Champions League did they at least manage to reach the playoffs — and even then with rather modest results, drawing half of their matches and winning exactly as many as they lost, two apiece. At home against the best team in Ligue 1 they unexpectedly led 2–0, but eventually surrendered the match without resistance. Monaco’s recent form suggests a lack of stability and confidence in decisive moments. Away from home, their results have been especially unconvincing against top-level opposition.

The capital club recorded four wins and one draw. However, in late autumn they lost at the Stade Louis II. It seems everything is already clear here — the visitors have missed their chance. We do not expect much from this pairing and back total under 4.0 goals.

Prediction for the match: Under 4.0 scored goals.
