They’ve also claimed the Super Cup and secured a spot in the French Cup final. Unsurprisingly, after clinching the league title, their recent league form has been lax — they’ve clearly shifted focus to Europe.

Auxerre have also checked all their boxes this season. The Burgundy club was at its peak in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with one league title, four Coupe de France wins, and a UEFA Cup semifinal appearance. But their decline followed, and last season they returned to Ligue 1 by finishing second in Ligue 2. As with any newly promoted side, the goal was survival — and Christophe Pélissier’s men looked well on track by mid-spring. As is often the case, that safety brought a slight drop in intensity. They managed a 4-0 thrashing of Lens, but lost to Lyon and Lille before falling 1-2 to Le Havre. Most recently, they drew 1-1 with Nantes.
PSG had won three in a row before the goalless draw in Auxerre back in December. It’s unlikely that the champions will drop points again to this opponent. Expect a statement win — back PSG with a -2 handicap.
