Parma take on the visitors AC Milan In the round 1 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Saturday, August 24th at Stadio Ennio Tardini (Parma).
Parma are remembered for their strong team that shone at the turn of the century but was gradually sold off. This didn’t prevent them from going bankrupt, but the club managed to rise from the amateur level back to Serie A and even started competing for European spots… only to rapidly decline under new ownership. They had to return to Serie B, where, despite the return of Buffon, they got stuck. It was only on the second attempt, and without Gigi, that Pecchia managed to win Italy's second division. However, after the summer break, they started with a 0-1 home loss against a modest Palermo, albeit in the cup. Then, in their Serie A opener against Fiorentina, they managed a 1-1 draw—quite a decent result for a newly promoted side.

Milan begins a new era. The Rossoneri were led by Stefano Pioli up until the spring, achieving significant successes, including a Scudetto. However, the relationship grew stale, and reasons for a split were sought—ultimately leading to Pioli's departure, despite Milan finishing second in Serie A. He was replaced by Paulo Fonseca, who returned to Italy after a solid stint with Lille. Additionally, Milan signed Morata from Atlético to replace Giroud, who left for MLS, and also brought in Strahinja Pavlović and Emerson Royal. Fonseca made his debut against Torino, a solid mid-table team. Torino even led by two goals, but a couple of late goals secured a draw for the favorites. Newcomer Morata made his mark but then got injured and will be out for a couple of weeks.
The Rossoneri are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Parma. In fact, they’ve won six of those matches, with only two ending in draws. It's hard to believe in a second success for the newly promoted side and another stumble for the runners-up. We’re betting on a win for the Rossoneri here.
Prediction for the match: AC Milan to win.
