Osasuna take on the visitors Mallorca in the round 27 match of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Saturday, March 7th at Estadio El Sadar (Pamplona).
Osasuna not so long ago were a fairly typical “elevator” club between divisions, but at one point they were taken over in the Segunda by Jagoba Arrasate, who brought them to a new level — a stable participant in La Liga that even managed to reach European competitions. In recent months the team has looked increasingly confident in the league, regularly picking up points and climbing closer to the upper half of the table. Their results at home have also been improving, which has made them a far more dangerous opponent for teams visiting Pamplona. They could have returned there in 2025, already without Jagoba, but lost the battle for 8th place to Rayo Vallecano, despite finishing with the same number of points as the Madrid side. In the summer Alessio Lisci arrived from Mirandes to take charge, but he was in no hurry to justify expectations. Only in winter did the team begin to build respectable momentum. They were eliminated from the cup, though — after a draw with neighboring Real Sociedad, they lost on penalties. In La Liga, however, they climbed into the upper half of the table. They even ended the winter with a real sensation — defeating Real Madrid, who had just moved into first place. However, it seems that victory cost them a lot of energy, as in the latest round they lost to Valencia.

Mallorca could end up in catastrophe. The Vermilion Ones were in the Segunda not that long ago. Under Javier Aguirre, however, they not only managed to secure their place in La Liga, but also reached the final of the cup. Recently their results in the league have become increasingly worrying, with defeats piling up and the team struggling to maintain stability from match to match. Even when they manage to pick up wins, they rarely manage to build any consistent momentum, which keeps them dangerously close to the relegation zone. Last season, under Jagoba Arrasate, they even climbed into the upper half of the table. But instead of continuing to progress, a sharp decline has followed, and the islanders are increasingly falling into the relegation zone — they simply have too many defeats, even if they are occasionally mixed with wins, while Vedat Muriqi remains among the top scorers of this campaign. The 0–1 home loss to Real Sociedad became their fourth defeat in a row. As a result, the club quite predictably decided to take the step of changing the head coach, inviting Martin Demichelis, known as a strong, though not particularly star defender, who already has some coaching experience.
In the last six meetings each club has one win. In 2025 both matches ended in draws. The Rojillos are strong and motivated — the pick is their victory.
