The White-and-Blues indeed improved once Shovkovskyi replaced Lucescu, eventually guiding the team to a long-awaited UPL title without a single league defeat. Still, that success was accompanied by a penalty-shootout loss in the cup final to Shakhtar and another disappointing European campaign.
