Netherlands take on Turkey in quarterfinal match of UEFA Euro 2024. The match will be played on Saturday, July 6th at Olympiastadion (Berlin).
If the Dutch national team was actively disguising themselves in their last group stage match against the Austrians, they certainly succeeded. In the Round of 16, the "Oranje" fully redeemed themselves for their loss to the Alpine "Red-Whites." They easily and effortlessly dismantled Romania with a score of 3-0 (1-0). And in the aforementioned match against Austria, there were even more goals scored - a total of 5. These were evenly distributed across both halves, 2-3 (0-1). Adding to these encounters, the Netherlands' clash with Poland ended 2-1 (1-1), which gives us a familiar entertaining and high-scoring picture for the Dutch. This is likely to bloom with new offensive landscapes from the very first minutes of the upcoming battle with the Turks.

The somewhat surprising, for summer Germany, semi-subtropical downpour climate has so far failed to cool down the hot, emotional, and goal-laden performance of Turkey in this EURO. Their energy and excitement have not waned from match to match. It has been a pleasure and an interesting watch even for neutral football fans, let alone the fervent army of "Janissary" supporters who have flooded German cities. Few expected to see the Turks reach such an advanced stage of EURO 2024, given their colorful but erratic and very adventurous anti-defensive style. Nevertheless, the "Crescent-Stars" have absolutely deserved their place in the quarterfinals. Here, they are unlikely to change their reckless tactics, which have led to a significant number of goals in previous encounters against Georgia 3-1 (1-1), Portugal 0-3 (0-2), and Austria 2-1 (1-0). Goals were scored in all halves of these matches!
In my opinion, it would be quite strange if the Netherlands and Turkey were to resolve their differences in an academic fashion. Can they even do that? I don't think so. I'm not considering the recent match between the Dutch and the French, where both teams seemingly agreed to play for a mutually beneficial draw. But the situation here is different - there can be no peace. And judging by the past encounters between the "Oranje" and the "Crescent-Stars," where the field was ruled by pure chaos and a "hockey-like" goal fest in terms of scoring, 6-1 (3-0), 2-4 (0-2), another goal-filled thriller is practically guaranteed here. The leading roles in this are set to be played from the very first minutes by Malen, Depay, Gakpo, Demiral, Güler, and other attacking stars.
Prediction for the match: Goals in both halves – yes.
