Napoli take on the visitors Cremonese in the round 34 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Friday, April 24th at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona (Naples).
Napoli are trying to finish the football year as high as possible. “The Partenopei,” after their previous Scudetto, went through a difficult period with key departures. However, Antonio Conte was not afraid to take over in Naples and immediately won the title race against Inter Milan in his first attempt. In January, they added another trophy by winning the Super Cup. Their recent form, though, has been uneven, with the team dropping important points in crucial matches. They have struggled to maintain consistency, especially against well-organized opponents. At the same time, they failed in the UEFA Champions League, not even reaching the playoffs, and were quickly eliminated from the domestic cup. On the other hand, this lighter schedule helped them in the spring, and in April they overtook AC Milan after a head-to-head win — leaving only Inter ahead and bringing back memories of last season’s scenario. However, April did not go well for the champions: they drew with Parma Calcio 1913 and lost to SS Lazio, making title retention now look almost impossible.

Cremonese had already played in Serie A in 2022/2023, when they were relegated without much resistance. After returning, they initially impressed, even starting with a 2–1 win in Milan against AC Milan. Their recent form, however, has been very poor, with a long winless run dragging them down the table. They have struggled both offensively and defensively, which has led to a lack of positive results. Until November, they had only one defeat — against Inter — but from early December to late March they failed to win a single match. Only against Parma did they suddenly manage a 2–0 away victory. After that, they lost 1–2 to Bologna FC and failed to respond against Cagliari Calcio, conceding the only goal of the match. In the latest round, they drew 0–0 with Torino FC, mainly because their opponent failed to score.
“The Partenopei” have won all four league meetings between the sides (including Serie B in 1999), and also advanced in the cup after a 2–2 draw in 2023. Against such an opponent, Napoli should be able to deliver a convincing performance. Backing the hosts to win with a -1.5 handicap looks like the right choice.
Prediction for the match: Napoli to win with -1.5 handicap.
