Moreirense take on the visitors Estoril in the round 30 match of Liga Portugal. The match will be played on Monday, April 20th at Parque Joaquim de Almeida Freitas (Moreira de Conegos).
Moreirense are far from being one of the most successful projects — their only major achievement remains the domestic cup triumph in 2017. Still, after being relegated, they managed an immediate return to the top flight and then delivered fairly solid results. Recently, however, their performances have declined, with the team struggling to maintain consistency in results. They have been dropping points regularly, which has pushed them away from higher ambitions. Last season, they collected 40 points and closed out the top 10. This time, it seemed they might even challenge for European places, but since late January they have either lost form or motivation. Unsurprisingly, recent rounds have brought little success: they lost 0–1 to SC Braga and managed only a 1–1 draw with FC Famalicão.

Estoril Praia are showing very similar results. “The Canaries” were playing at a semi-professional third-tier level at the start of the decade, but with new investment they progressed rapidly, climbing through the divisions and eventually establishing themselves in the Primeira Liga. Their recent form has also been inconsistent, with the team alternating between competitive performances and costly mistakes. They have shown attacking intent, but defensive issues continue to affect their results. Last season, they finished only 15th, but this campaign has been more encouraging overall, reaching the international break with a balanced record of 10 wins and 10 losses. After the restart, they were involved in an entertaining clash with FC Arouca, but ultimately lost 2–3. Against title-chasing FC Porto, they were also beaten as expected, 1–3.
All of the last three meetings between the teams have ended in high-scoring draws. This is unlikely to be a particularly entertaining match — both sides are out of form and seem to be simply seeing out the season. A low-scoring game looks likely, so backing under 2.5 total goals appears to be the right option.
