Monaco vs PSG Prediction 17 February 2026

Monaco take on the visitors PSG in the first leg of UEFA Champions League round of 1/16-finals. The match will be played on Tuesday, February 17th at Stade Louis II (Monaco).

Monaco are having a very poor season and are in desperate need of success. The Monegasques have become hostages to decisions made by their own management. Adi Hütter took over a side that had failed to qualify for European competitions and then guided it to second and third place in Ligue 1, yet he was dismissed after the first setbacks of the current campaign. Under his successor, results deteriorated even further, with defeats coming almost as often as wins. The turning point was a heavy Champions League loss early in the autumn, a 1–4 defeat to Club Brugge. Interestingly, it is in this tournament that the principality’s representatives have looked relatively competitive, losing only once, albeit heavily, 1–6 away to Real Madrid. Still, half of their matches ended in draws, and victories came only against Bodø/Glimt and Galatasaray. Recent domestic form shows little sign of stability, with confidence clearly shaken. Even at home, Monaco have struggled to impose themselves and convert pressure into points.

Paris Saint-Germain suffered their only failure in 2025 at the Club World Cup, losing the final heavily to Chelsea. All other competitions were won, yet the current season has been far from flawless. Even in Ligue 1, they went into the winter break only in second place, trailing Lens, and in January they were knocked out of the cup by Paris FC. On the positive side, another trophy was added after a penalty shootout, the French Super Cup. In the Champions League, the holders were not especially convincing either, with mixed results after an initial run of wins, but they still advanced comfortably to the knockout stage. Importantly, this is not the first time PSG have looked unconvincing early and then improved later in the campaign. Their overall experience at this level suggests they can still raise their performance when required.

The capital club have won four of the last five meetings, with one draw. However, in autumn they lost 0–1 on this very ground. Maximum focus is expected from the visitors. They should be capable of securing an away victory.

Prediction for the match: PSG to win.
