Monaco take on the visitors Juventus in the round 8 match of UEFA Europa League – League Phase. The match will be played on Wednesday, January 28th at Stade Louis II (Monaco).
Monaco put their faith in Hütter back in 2023. He not only pulled the ambitious side out of a crisis, but immediately led them to a runner-up finish. Last season, in extremely tight competition, they ended up third as well. However, at the start of the new campaign relations with the board collapsed, and the Austrian was replaced by Pocognoli. Now there is little left but nostalgia for Adi, as defeats in Ligue 1 are no fewer than victories. The Champions League campaign also began badly, with a heavy 1–4 loss to Club Brugge. That was followed by a couple of draws, and only towards the end of 2025 did Monaco manage to beat Bodø/Glimt and Galatasaray, while also drawing 2–2 with debutants Pafos. January brought complete humiliation against Real, ending in a 1–6 defeat. Recent weeks clearly show a lack of stability and confidence. Even at home, Monaco struggle to control matches and often lose momentum after setbacks.

Juventus have improved after yet another managerial change. Under Allegri, the Old Lady finished third in Serie A and won the cup, but Massimiliano was sacked immediately after the final. His successor, Thiago Motta, was dismissed in disgrace before completing a full year, while Tudor, despite a decent spring that ended with fourth place in the league, failed to pull the team out of a prolonged slump in autumn. Eventually, experienced Spalletti arrived in Turin and, not instantly but convincingly, stabilized the situation and delivered progress in both performances and results. This improvement was reflected in the Champions League as well. After starting with three draws and a defeat to Real, Juventus followed up with two wins, albeit against weaker opponents, Bodø/Glimt and Pafos. Last week, they finished the match against Benfica with a solid 2–0 victory. Overall form has become more reliable, especially in decisive games. Juventus now look more organized and consistent than earlier in the season.
The teams met in 1998, 2015 and 2017. The Monegasques won only once, losing four of those matches. The visitors are rightly rated higher. The pick is a Juventus win.
Prediction for the match: Juventus to win.
