Manchester United take on the visitors West Ham in the round 14 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Thursday, December 4th at Old Trafford (Manchester).
Manchester United are hoping to finally produce a strong season. The Red Devils have struggled to return to top level ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. Ruben Amorim disappointed last season after being persuaded to take over following the long-awaited dismissal of Ten Hag. Under the Portuguese coach things only got worse in the Premier League: they ended with a dreadful 42 points and finished 15th. To make matters worse, they lost the Europa League final to another crisis-hit British side, Tottenham. This season also began poorly, with early failures in the new campaign and a League Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby from the fourth tier. But just when the manager’s dismissal looked inevitable, United finally started to play with purpose and climbed into the group of leaders rather quickly. November still brought a 2–2 draw with Nottingham Forest and another 2–2 with Hotspurs, and they even lost to Everton despite the opponent going down to ten men after a foolish red card for Gueye. However, they followed that setback with a 2–1 win over a seemingly solid Crystal Palace. Manchester United’s recent results indicate growing stability, as the team has begun to handle pressure better and secure points even in tight matches. Their performances at Old Trafford in particular have shown signs of renewed confidence, which could be crucial in maintaining upward momentum.

West Ham are an ambitious club, and under Moyes they even secured a European trophy by winning the Conference League. But last summer the board decided that Lopetegui, not the Scotsman, was the coach who could elevate the team to a consistently high level, also investing over £100 million in new arrivals. Ultimately, Julen was dismissed after half a year of struggles. Graham Potter did not deliver improvement either, leading to his removal in the middle of this autumn. Nuno Espírito Santo, however, managed to win consecutive matches against Newcastle and Burnley in November. After the international break they squandered a 2–0 lead and allowed Bournemouth to equalise. And against a crisis-stricken Liverpool they suffered a 0–2 defeat. Despite the setbacks, West Ham have shown periods of disciplined, structured play, especially in matches where they managed to control tempo and protect narrow leads. Their resilience in difficult stretches suggests they remain capable of competing even away from home, provided they maintain focus throughout the 90 minutes.
Four of the last five Premier League meetings, including both of the most recent, were won by the Hammers, with one defeat. United appear overrated again. The bet is on the revitalised visitors with a +1.5 handicap.
Prediction for the match: West Ham to win with +1.5 handicap.
