Manchester United take on the visitors Chelsea in the round 5 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Saturday, September 20th at Old Trafford (Manchester).
Manchester United continue to frustrate their supporters. Erik ten Hag was not dismissed after the poor 2023/2024 campaign only because he managed to win the FA Cup in the end. However, under the pressure of new failures, he was quickly removed — yet with Rúben Amorim the club sunk even deeper, posting record-low results in the Premier League. It became clear that the main focus was the Europa League, with domestic games sacrificed for European progress. But in the end, it was Tottenham, another former José Mourinho club, that managed to pull off the “Europa trick” by winning the continental trophy to cover up a league disappointment. Meanwhile, United, despite investing heavily in the summer, opened with a defeat to Arsenal. A draw with Fulham followed, then humiliation came in the League Cup, being knocked out by Grimsby — a League Two side. Only after that did they claim a first win, as Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty in the 97th minute for a 3-2 victory. In September’s derby against Manchester City, however, they were completely outplayed and lost 0-3. Their attack has lacked fluidity, managing just five goals in as many league games, while their defensive line has already conceded ten. Supporters are increasingly questioning whether the squad is strong enough to challenge for the top six this season.

Chelsea seem to have finally found the right manager. “The Blues” endured a couple of underwhelming years under their new ownership. But with Enzo Maresca, they clearly recovered lost ground in 2024/2025. He guided them back into the Premier League’s top four and also led the club to victory in the Europa Conference League. While Chelsea were obvious favorites there, the triumph at the FIFA Club World Cup came as a pleasant surprise. In the new season, after another round of summer restructuring, they started with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace. Then they defeated West Ham and Fulham in back-to-back London derbies. Against Brentford, they were leading but conceded a stoppage-time equalizer. This week brought their Champions League opener away at Bayern Munich, where mistakes proved costly in a deserved 1-3 defeat. Still, their league form looks promising, as they have already scored eight goals in four matches, with Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson showing strong chemistry up front. Defensively, though, lapses remain an issue, as they have kept only one clean sheet so far.
Chelsea have won two of the last three meetings between the clubs, with one draw. The teams are considered evenly matched, but Chelsea have started the season more convincingly. Back the visitors with a 0 handicap.
Prediction for the match: Chelsea to win with 0.0 handicap.
