Malmo take on the visitors Oster in the round 6 match of Swedish Allsvenskan. The match will be played on Tuesday, April 29th at Eleda Stadion (Malmö).
Malmö have recently re-established themselves as the dominant force in Swedish football. In 2023, they reclaimed the league title after a brief two-year pause. Last season, the Allsvenskan champions collected 65 points — 11 more than nearest rivals AIK and Hammarby. It was their 24th domestic league title, and they also added a 16th Swedish Cup to their trophy cabinet. Under Henrik Rydström, Malmö opened the new campaign strongly with wins over Djurgården and Elfsborg. However, momentum stalled with consecutive draws against AIK and Sirius. Most recently, they suffered a surprising 0-2 defeat at home to Hammarby — a clear warning sign for the reigning champions. Malmö's defense, which looked solid at the start, has now conceded in three straight matches.

Östers are testing themselves in the Allsvenskan once againю OIF have previously appeared in Sweden's top division, but over the past 25 years, they even had to rebuild the club structure. Since then, they’ve only briefly featured in the Allsvenskan. They earned promotion again in 2024 by finishing second in the Superettan — enough to secure direct elevation. The newcomers kicked off their campaign with a wild 3-4 away loss to Norrköping. However, they bounced back impressively, beating Häcken 2-0 at home. That said, they've since lost three in a row by identical 0-1 scores to Halmstad, AIK, and Djurgården. Östers have now gone three consecutive games without scoring, and their away form remains a major concern. They’ve created very little in attack and struggled to contain even mid-table opposition.
The last time these sides met in the Allsvenskan was back in 2013, with Malmö taking four points across the two matches. Östers did manage to beat them in the 2019 Swedish Cup, but Malmö got their revenge with a 2-0 win in the same competition in February last year. It’s time for the giants to wake up and respond to last week’s setback — we back them to win with a -1.5 goal handicap.
Prediction for the match: Malmo to win with -1.5 handicap.
