At the same time, their home form has become more reliable, which helps them stay competitive in the tight battle near the top of the table.

Lille are the last club to have managed, even for a single season, to interrupt PSG’s dominance in Ligue 1. They also performed quite well in the Champions League last season, but the effort spent there may have cost them domestically. In an extremely tight race, they finished fifth, losing out to Monaco and Nice by a single point and on tiebreakers. As a result, Lille also dropped into the Europa League. There, they secured qualification for the playoffs thanks to a win in Freiburg, although they collected only nine points overall. In Ligue 1, Bruno Génésio’s team looked solid for long stretches, but the start of 2026 turned into a nightmare. They were knocked out of the cup, lost to Rennes, then suffered a heavy 0–3 defeat to PSG, and Strasbourg inflicted the same final scoreline, 1–4. Such a run has clearly hurt Lille’s confidence, especially away from home. Their recent results suggest a team struggling to regain balance, conceding too many goals in decisive moments.
In the last six meetings, Lille have managed only one draw. This season they have already lost to Lyon twice, in both the league and the cup, and both defeats came at home. It is hard to find convincing arguments in favor of the visitors. Lyon should be expected to secure a win here.
