Luton take on the visitors Burnley in the round 1 match of English Championship. The match will be played on Monday, August 12th at Kenilworth Road (Luton).
Luton Town had long been reminiscing about the glory days of the 80s and early 90s when they consistently played in the top division and even lifted a cup once. But recently, the team managed to reach the playoffs in 2022 and, in the following season, won the play-offs to finally earn the right to debut in the Premier League. No one believed in such a newcomer, but penalties for Everton and Nottingham Forest and the decent form of Rob Edwards' lads allowed them to keep hope alive for survival in the top flight. However, in the end, the lack of class and experience took its toll, and they finished 18th, above their more prestigious rivals, but still got relegated. Nonetheless, they will attempt to bounce back with the same manager and largely the same squad, though Barkley has moved to Aston Villa to continue playing in the Premier League.

Burnley – one of the disappointments of last season's Premier League. The "Clarets," having left the Premier League two years ago after a long and at times glorious stint (even qualifying for European competitions), were eager to prove that their relegation was a fluke. Vincent Kompany, an unexpected choice given his mediocre results with Anderlecht, lived up to expectations by securing the Championship title early. However, in the Premier League, the newcomer, despite all his experience, started with defeats and spent the entire season in the same vein, being relegated in disgrace—even Luton showed more desire and potential to fight. Despite this, the Belgian wasn't sacked by the management. However, he left in the summer—no wonder, as Bayern Munich showed interest in him! Now, Burnley will make a new attempt to climb back up with Scott Parker, a well-known former midfielder who led Bournemouth to the Premier League but was later dismissed from there, and he didn't last long at Club Brugge either. Still, he now has a solid squad, with only goalkeeper Muric sold to Ipswich.
The "Clarets" haven't lost in their last eight encounters, evenly splitting the matches between wins and draws. Even in the 2023/2024 Premier League season, they picked up 4 out of 6 points against Luton. The odds are considered almost even. But given the recent history, we recommend betting on the visitors with a "0" handicap.
Prediction for the match: Burnley to win with 0.0 handicap.
