Leicester take on the visitors Everton in the round 5 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Saturday, September 21th at King Power Stadium (Leicester).
The Foxes didn’t mourn for long after their relegation to the Championship, quickly returning to the Premier League. In the very first round, they managed to take points from Tottenham at home (1-1), despite being clear underdogs according to the bookmakers. This was followed by three consecutive high-scoring matches: 1-2 defeats to Fulham and Aston Villa, and a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace. As we can see from the results, Leicester enjoys scoring but is far from perfect in defense. Steve Cooper isn’t one for parking the bus. The team’s top scorer is, of course, Jamie Vardy, who has already netted twice this season. However, even his efforts haven’t been enough to secure wins, as Leicester’s defense has looked quite weak. On top of that, there are some key injuries in the Foxes' lineup, with Daka, Opoku, and Stolarek all out of action.

Compared to Everton, the Foxes have at least started the season reasonably well, while the Toffees have completely collapsed. Four matches, four defeats, and woeful defending. A 0-3 loss to Brighton, followed by a 0-4 drubbing by Tottenham, means Everton have already conceded seven goals in just two rounds. They didn’t tighten up defensively in the following matches, but at least they remembered how to score, losing 2-3 to both Bournemouth and Aston Villa. On a positive note, McNeil has already scored once and provided two assists for the Blues, while Calvert-Lewin has netted twice and set up one for his teammates. As for injuries, Everton has twice as many problems as Leicester. Broja, Chermiti, Gueye, and Patterson are all ruled out, with the participation of Keane, Branthwaite, Coleman, and Garner still in doubt.
In Everton’s last four matches, over 2.5 goals were scored in all of them, while Leicester saw over 2.5 goals in three of their last four fixtures. Both teams are dealing with significant injury problems, and the substitute or reserve players will be eager to take their chance and impress. Leicester and Everton often produce high-scoring encounters in their head-to-head matches as well. In their last two meetings at Leicester’s ground, at least three goals were scored between them: 1-2 and 2-2. My prediction is over 2.5 total goals.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.5 scored goals.
