Leicester take on the visitors Brentford in the round 26 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Friday, February 21st at King Power Stadium (Leicester).
Leicester are nowhere near the level of football expected from them. They were excellent last season, but that was in the Championship, where they unexpectedly found themselves in 2023 before making a swift and dominant return. Moreover, that success came under Enzo Maresca, who left for Chelsea in the summer. His replacement, Steve Cooper, didn’t completely fail, but he struggled to get the best out of the squad. The club then took a gamble on Ruud van Nistelrooy, who, after picking up four points in his first two league matches (3-1 against West Ham and a late comeback for a 2-2 draw with Brighton), only managed a convincing 6-2 win over QPR in the cup (before exiting in the next round to Manchester United) and a gritty victory against a struggling Tottenham. However, against Arsenal, even with their injury problems, they had no chance of securing a draw, let alone a win. Their recent results leave them dangerously close to the relegation zone, with little sign of improvement.

Brentford has raised expectations for itself. The Bees are still relatively new to the Premier League. However, they have already established themselves as a unique and exciting side that appeals not just to their fans but also to neutral spectators with their attacking style. They have stuck to that approach even after selling Ivan Toney, their top scorer in recent years, six months ago. Not only did they manage without him initially, but they even competed for European spots early in the season, largely thanks to their strong home form. However, that advantage has faded, and, ironically, their most recent wins—now a rare occurrence—have come away from home against Southampton and Crystal Palace. Meanwhile, at home, they even suffered a shocking FA Cup defeat to Plymouth (who later pulled off an even bigger upset by eliminating Liverpool!). Last weekend, they edged out West Ham with a 1-0 victory, showing they can grind out results when needed.
Leicester went unbeaten in their first eight meetings against Brentford. However, in November, they suffered a heavy 1-4 defeat in London. The Bees have recently learned how to play effectively on the road. Against an opponent in crisis, they have a solid chance of securing another away win.
Prediction for the match: Brentford to win.
