Leganes take on the visitors Osasuna in the round 30 match of Spanish LaLiga. The match will be played on Monday, April 7th at Estadio Municipal de Butarque (Leganes).
Leganés have finally returned to La Liga, but it's unclear if they have the strength to stay up. The Cucumber Growers made their top-flight debut in 2016 and managed to stay there for four seasons. They went down fighting in 2020, finishing 18th, and it seemed like a quick return was only a matter of time. It finally happened last spring — and in spectacular fashion: jumping from 14th in 2023 to 1st place by the end of the season. But the jump in quality has proven difficult to handle for the newly promoted side. They’ve struggled badly in recent weeks, crashing out of the Copa del Rey in a 2-3 thriller against Real Madrid and picking up just a couple of decent results in the league — a 3-3 draw with Alavés and a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe. Every other match ended in defeat, leaving them stuck in the relegation zone. Even their most recent match against Real Madrid, where they scored twice, still ended in a loss.

Osasuna were led for years by Jagoba Arrasate, who took them from the Segunda División to becoming a solid mid-table La Liga side. The 2022/2023 season was their high point, finishing 7th in the league and reaching the Copa del Rey final, where they lost to Real Madrid. However, they were eliminated in the Conference League qualifiers and slid down the domestic table. Arrasate eventually departed for Mallorca, and Vicente Moreno took over. Moreno made a promising start, but results gradually worsened. Since beating Real Sociedad 2-1 in early February, Osasuna have managed only a few draws and were outclassed 0-3 by Barcelona in a rescheduled match. They also drew 0-0 with Athletic Club, failing to find the net again but salvaging a respectable point.
After three straight defeats to Osasuna, Leganés managed to earn a draw in their first meeting in four years — a 1-1 result back in August. This is expected to be a tight contest, but the hosts have much more at stake as they fight for survival. Back Leganés to avoid defeat at home.
Prediction for the match: Leganes not to lose (1X).
