Leeds take on the visitors Manchester City in the round 28 match of English Premier League. The match will be played on Saturday, February 28th at Elland Road (Leeds).
Leeds not so long ago had already returned to the Premier League. But after spending a couple of years there, they went back to the Championship in 2023. In order not to get stuck there again for a long time, they immediately invited a proven promotion specialist, Farke. He succeeded only on the second attempt, but now the Whites look fairly competitive in the positions they have regained, although it is certainly far too early for them to relax. Recent form shows that Leeds are steadily picking up points and avoiding long losing streaks. Their results since the winter break suggest a team that is difficult to beat and capable of grinding out outcomes even against stronger opposition. Since the beginning of winter, one can literally count on the fingers the matches in which they failed to take points at least through a draw. In the previous round against Aston Villa, they ended with a respectable draw. At the same time, in the cup, after getting past Derby County, they also drew 1–1 with Birmingham City, but went through thanks to success in the penalty shootout.

Manchester City understand that they cannot afford slip-ups. The Citizens, under their current owners, have become a giant, and under Guardiola — a true flagship of English football. But after loud successes, including winning the Champions League, they effectively failed, by their own high standards, last season. This campaign, however, shows a much more controlled and focused City, especially in key domestic matches. Recent results indicate that they are steadily gaining momentum as the decisive phase of the season approaches. In the current one they are already just one step away from a trophy, although in the League Cup final they will face Arsenal. The very side they have been chasing since autumn, and by February they managed to cut the gap. In the previous round against Newcastle United, it was quite difficult. But thanks to a brace scored unexpectedly by O’Riley rather than one of the recognized top scorers, they managed to win there as well, 2–1. In addition, in the cup tie with Salford City, they limited themselves to a pragmatic 2–0 — a year ago it was much more spectacular. And in the Champions League, although they did allow some slip-ups, they still finished among the leaders and will start the play-offs later.
The 3–2 win in November at home became the fifth consecutive victory for the Citizens over this opponent. It is hard to see any chances for the Whites — the strong visitors should be able to secure yet another victory.
Prediction for the match: Manchester City to win.
