Lazio take on the visitors Udinese in the round 34 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Monday, April 27th at Stadio Olimpico (Rome).
Lazio were Serie A runners-up under Maurizio Sarri — their best finish of the century. It’s no surprise that the club decided to bring Maurizio back after last season’s disappointing outcome, when they finished level on points with ACF Fiorentina but lost 6th place on tiebreakers, and also missed out on the Conference League due to Bologna FC winning the cup. Their recent form has been inconsistent, with occasional bright results mixed with frustrating dropped points. They have struggled to maintain momentum in the league despite some short positive runs. Even with Sarri, their main success came in the cup — this week, after another draw with Atalanta BC in the semi-final, they progressed only after winning on penalties. In Serie A, results have been worse than last season overall. Yes, in spring they managed, for the first time this campaign, to win three matches in a row. But in April they were held at home by Parma Calcio 1913 and even lost to Fiorentina, before bouncing back with a win over SSC Napoli.

Udinese, on the other hand, have not really surprised anyone. “The Zebras” used to make serious noise in Italian football, but that was a long time ago. Now their status is well known: a solid but not particularly ambitious mid-table Serie A side. Last season, the first under Kosta Runjaić in Italy, they finished 12th with 44 points. Their recent performances have been fairly steady, although inconsistency still remains an issue. They have managed to pick up some notable wins but often fail to build on them. Not much has changed this season, although there have been moments suggesting slight progress, even sparking occasional talk about a potential push for European spots. Still, defeats outnumber victories, even if spring results have been decent despite questionable motivation. They even thrashed AC Milan 3–0, but then, true to their inconsistency, lost 0–1 to Parma.
While Juventus (Bianconeri) won both matches in 2024, in the last calendar year the teams played out two draws — 1–1 in both March and December. It’s hard to expect many goals here. The best option looks like backing under 2.5 total goals.
Prediction for the match: Under 2.5 scored goals.
