Kuressaare take on the visitors Tammeka in the round 20 match of Estonian Meistrliiga. The match will be played on Friday, June 11th at Kuressaare Linnastaadion (Kuressaare).
Kuressaare were founded in the late 20th century and have had a fluctuating presence in Estonia’s top flight, with multiple relegations over the years. Since 2018, they've managed to remain in the Meistriliiga, though only once have they finished as high as fifth. Last season, they slipped to a precarious eighth place with just 34 points from 36 matches. This year, their situation looks even worse, with only one team below them in the standings. A dismal run stretching from mid-May saw five consecutive defeats, and only in early summer did they manage a 1-1 draw with Harju. Even in the last round, despite scoring twice against Trans, they ended up losing 2-3.

Tammeka appear stronger, but only in comparison to the league's strugglers. The “Blue and Whites” have not been known for consistent success, with their most notable achievements being two Estonian Cup final appearances — both ending in defeat. Still, in 2024, Tartu’s side had a respectable season: they secured fifth place with 42 points and 11 wins, although they were nowhere near the European qualification zone (Flora in fourth had 70 points). This season has brought more inconsistency, with two-thirds of their matches ending in losses. However, they showed signs of life as summer approached, stringing together back-to-back wins in June to pull away from the relegation zone. Even so, setbacks continue — most recently a thrilling but disappointing 2-3 defeat to Kalev.
Tammeka are unbeaten in their last five matches against Kuressaare. In fact, they’ve defeated them three times in a row, including a win as recently as June. The hosts may be slightly favored, but their recent form doesn’t inspire confidence. Back the visitors to avoid defeat.
Prediction for the match: Tammeka not to lose (X2).
