Koln take on the visitors Stuttgart in the round 5 match of German Bundesliga. The match will be played on Sunday, September 28th at RheinEnergieStadion (Cologne).
Cologne remain highly inconsistent. Not long ago they managed to qualify for European competitions, though they failed to make an impression there. After that, however, came relegation to Bundesliga 2. Fortunately, they did not get stuck there, and last spring the players secured promotion back to the elite level. And already they managed to deliver a very respectable start. After warming up in the cup against Jahn Regensburg, the newcomers defeated both Mainz and Freiburg. In September they had to settle for just a draw with Wolfsburg, though it was a thrilling 3-3 contest. Against RB Leipzig they also conceded three times and ended up losing 1-3. Cologne have nevertheless shown attacking promise, scoring at least twice in four of their last five matches. Their defense, however, remains shaky, with 10 goals conceded across the last four Bundesliga fixtures.

Stuttgart hope to achieve success again this season. The Swabians appointed Sebastian Hoeneß when they were threatened with relegation. But after first securing survival, he led them to a sensation: in 2023/2024 they collected more points than Bayern and finished second in the Bundesliga. They could not sustain that level — the following campaign saw them drop back into the lower half of the table. Nor did they progress to the knockout stage of the Champions League. But they compensated with a triumph in the domestic cup. This season, the club has not looked particularly convincing. It began with a respectable defeat in the Supercup — losing 1-2 to Bayern. A little later in Braunschweig they played a 4-4 draw in regular time, only advancing past Eintracht after an extended penalty shootout. And in the Bundesliga they have more often dropped points or lost than won. Against St. Pauli, however, they managed to take the maximum: scoring twice while keeping a clean sheet. Stuttgart’s form remains inconsistent, with just one win in their last five league games. Still, their defensive organization is improving, with two clean sheets in their previous three matches.
In the last five encounters with the Billy Goats, the Swabians won three times and drew twice. The visitors have problems, but they are clearly more experienced than their opponent and possess a stronger squad. We take a risk on their victory, applying the “draw no bet” option.
Prediction for the match: Stuttgart to win with 0.0 handicap.
