Kayserispor have managed to remain in the top tier of Turkish football for most of the last two decades. In 2008 they even won the only major trophy in their history, the Turkish Cup. Their recent results show how difficult it has been for them to maintain any positive momentum over a longer stretch. In winter they had no victories, and they started 2026 with four consecutive defeats. Only against Goztepe did they at least manage a draw, of course 0–0. After that they even managed to beat Antalyaspor — again by the score of 1–0, with the only goal coming late in the match. Against Genclerbirligi they simply repeated another goalless draw.

Trabzonspor are showing respectable football. The Black Sea Storm are generally considered the number one football power in Turkey outside of Istanbul. This unofficial status was confirmed not so long ago with a championship title, their first in decades. Last season, however, turned out to be disappointing. Only after another coaching change, when Fatih Tekke took charge, did the team improve — though not enough to return to the European competition zone. Recently their league form has been much more convincing, with the team regularly picking up victories and maintaining a strong position in the standings. Overall, their performances have looked solid and balanced, which has allowed them to stay ahead of most rivals in the table. They still had a chance to correct the situation in the cup, but that ended with a defeat to Galatasaray. In the league standings they now trail only that club and another giant, Fenerbahce, confidently holding third place. In the latest rounds they defeated Gaziantep and Fatih Karagumruk. Meanwhile, in the cup match against Istanbul Basaksehir, everything ended with another convincing victory.
Last season both matches ended in draws. In this campaign the Claret-Blues won at home in mid-autumn, 2–0. The visitors are clearly much stronger. The pick is for Trabzonspor to claim the victory here.
