Trabzonspor looking to reclaim lost ground. The Maroon-Blues reminded everyone of their stature outside Istanbul with a recent Süper Lig title, but haven’t been able to replicate that success. In Europe, they’ve remained fairly competitive, though last season was a mess from the start. Even the return of veteran coach Şenol Güneş didn’t help, and it was only under current boss Fatih Tekke that their game stabilized. They even reached the Turkish Cup final, though as expected, Galatasaray proved too strong. After refreshing the squad over the summer, Trabzonspor began this campaign with a narrow win over Kocaelispor, thanks to a goal from perhaps their most notable new signing, striker Paul Onuachu.
In the last six official meetings, the Black Sea Storm managed just one win, along with two defeats. This matchup looks fairly balanced on paper, but the visitors appear more organized and consistent. A bet on Trabzonspor to win seems the smarter choice.
