Juventus take on the visitors Genoa in the round 30 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Saturday, March 29th at Allianz Stadium (Turin).
Juventus clearly did not expect this season to go this way. The Old Lady managed to recover from a disappointing slump in 2024 to secure third place in Serie A and win the Coppa Italia. However, despite these achievements, the club decided to part ways with Massimiliano Allegri before the summer. A major squad overhaul followed, with significant financial investment, and Thiago Motta, who had impressed at Bologna, was brought in as head coach. But now, the only real surprise is why he lasted so long. Nothing has gone right. Initially, the Bianconeri struggled with too many draws, but in 2025, their form completely collapsed: a 1-2 loss to Milan in the Supercoppa, elimination from the Champions League by PSV despite winning the first leg 2-1 at home, and an embarrassing Coppa Italia exit to Empoli on penalties. Their recent Serie A performances have been disastrous, suffering a 0-4 defeat to Atalanta and a 0-3 loss to Fiorentina, dropping them to fifth place. Unsurprisingly, during the international break, Motta was sacked and replaced by Igor Tudor. Given the team’s poor defensive displays, Tudor’s first priority will be restoring some solidity at the back.

Genoa achieved impressive results under Alberto Gilardino. Despite having no prior coaching experience, he led them to promotion from Serie B and then secured a comfortable mid-table finish in Serie A. However, when their form took a prolonged dip this season and it became clear that Gilardino lacked solutions, the club made a decisive switch to Patrick Vieira. While the Frenchman hasn't worked miracles, both performances and results have improved significantly, allowing Genoa to stabilize in mid-table. They no longer have much to play for in terms of league position, but last weekend’s win over Lecce proved they remain competitive. Ruslan Malinovskyi, recently back from a serious injury, played a crucial role by providing two assists for Fabio Miretti, securing a 2-1 victory. If Vieira's side maintains this level of attacking sharpness, they could trouble Juventus.
Genoa avoided defeat in three consecutive matches before being thrashed 0-3 at home in September. The Turin giants are unlikely to dominate this time. Back Genoa to cover the +1 goal handicap.
Prediction for the match: Genoa to win with +1.0 handicap.
