Jamaica take on the visitors Bermuda in a World Cup 2026 qualification match. The match will be played on Wednesday, October 15th at Independence Park (Kingston).
Jamaica haven’t returned to the World Cup stage since their debut in 1998. But now, with the tournament’s expansion and the fact that it will be hosted in North America — meaning three of the region’s strongest football nations will automatically qualify — there’s a golden opportunity to finally claim a long-awaited ticket. The current generation has talent and depth, featuring several players with solid experience in European leagues. However, recent tournaments have been disappointing: they failed to reach the CONCACAF Nations League finals, lost all three matches at the Copa América, and couldn’t make it past the group stage at the Gold Cup. On the positive side, Jamaica began this qualification round confidently, earning convincing September wins over Bermuda (4-0) and Trinidad and Tobago (2-0). In their most recent match against Curaçao, though, they stumbled — unable to respond to two goals from their rival. Still, the team remains one of the strongest in the region and should be motivated to bounce back quickly. With attacking power led by Antonio and Bailey, Jamaica have the tools to deliver a dominant home performance.

Bermuda have already exceeded expectations by reaching this stage. The “Warriors,” despite their bold nickname, have little to boast about so far, with their lone major highlight being their debut at the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup. They even managed a single win there, but ultimately failed to progress from the group and haven’t qualified for any major tournaments since. In the Nations League, they consistently hover around League B, struggling to establish any real momentum. Simply finishing second in their previous qualifying group — ahead of Cuba by one point (7 vs 6), as well as the Cayman Islands and Antigua and Barbuda — was already a big surprise. But in the current round, they’ve suffered only defeats so far. They were demolished 0-4 by Jamaica, gave a decent fight in a 2-3 loss away to Curaçao, and then fell 0-3 to Trinidad and Tobago. Bermuda remain limited in both depth and quality, and their defensive organization often collapses against technically superior teams. Facing Jamaica away, they’ll need a near-perfect game just to avoid another heavy defeat.
The very first encounter, back in 1992, ended in a 1-1 draw. Since then, however, the “Reggae Boyz” have won all three subsequent matches. After dropping points in the last round, the hosts will be determined to deliver a statement win. The bet is on Jamaica with a handicap of “-2.5 goals” — possibly even “-3”.
Prediction for the match: Jamaica to win with -2.5 handicap.
