Inter take on the visitors Udinese in the round 2 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Sunday, August 31st at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) (Milan).
«Inter» played under Simone Inzaghi until the end of last spring. He had delivered incredible success in Milan, including a dominant Serie A title two seasons ago. It seemed that the peak was supposed to come in 2024/25, even despite losing the Super Cup. But instead of chasing a treble, a disastrous May saw them crash out of the Coppa Italia semifinals to Milan, lose their grip on the Serie A lead, and finally suffer a humiliating 0-5 defeat to PSG in the Champions League final. After that, the coach departed — Cristian Chivu took charge for the Club World Cup, but Inter fell already in the round of 16 to Fluminense. Against Torino in the opening league fixture, however, much went right: they scored five goals, including a brace from Marcus Thuram, and their opponents had no answers at all. This performance was a strong statement that Inter are still among Italy’s elite despite the turbulence. Their attacking depth looks dangerous, and early signs suggest they could once again compete for the Scudetto if consistency is maintained.

«Udinese» no longer set high ambitions. The “Zebras” still recall the times when they were not leaders but could regularly compete in the upper half of Serie A. Those days are long gone, and for years survival has been the main goal — usually achieved without too much stress under different managers. A year ago, Kosta Runjaic took over and initially found success, but in the end they finished in a very familiar position — 12th with 44 points, again at a safe distance from danger. After the summer break they handled Carraraese in the Coppa Italia, winning 2-0 without major issues. In the league opener against Verona, they even struck first but eventually allowed their rivals to equalize. Udinese still look solid defensively, but their lack of creativity in attack remains an issue. If they don’t improve in the final third, mid-table mediocrity is the most they can hope for this season.
Of course, the “Nerazzurri” dominate this rivalry. They have now won six consecutive encounters. The “Nerazzurri” are stronger and should not settle for a narrow win at home — the best bet is a home victory with a handicap of “-1.5 goals.”
Prediction for the match: Inter to win with -1.5 handicap.
