Independiente Rivadavia take on the visitors Central Cordoba in the round 15 match of Argentine Torneo Betano – Cluasura. The match will be played on Tuesday, November 11th at Estadio Juan Bautista Gargantini (Mendoza).
Independiente Rivadavia were founded over 110 years ago, but for most of their history they played minor roles, only occasionally earning promotion to the Primera División — and never staying long. They made their Liga Profesional debut just last season after coming up from the second division. Back then, they managed to finish 11th in the Primera, though in the overall table for 2024 they ended up only 23rd. In the Apertura, they placed sixth in their group but were immediately knocked out in the playoffs by Independiente. Now their results are much more modest — just 12 points from 14 matches. All the focus shifted to the cup, where in the final against Argentinos Juniors they squandered a two-goal lead but eventually triumphed in the penalty shootout to claim the title. The recent cup victory has brought plenty of joy but also emotional fatigue to the team. Their league form clearly shows signs of decline, as motivation and concentration seem to have dipped after that major success.

Central Córdoba need to keep pushing forward. The Railwaymen in 2024 won their first major trophy in more than a century by lifting the Argentine Cup. However, in the league they finished outside the top 20. This season, in the Copa Libertadores, they were heartbreakingly eliminated despite collecting the same 11 points as LDU Quito and Flamengo, finishing third in the group on goal difference. Then in the Copa Sudamericana playoffs, after beating Cerro Largo, they traded 1-0 home wins with Lanús but were knocked out on penalties. Their Clausura campaign has been mixed, but consecutive victories over Unión (Santa Fe) and Huracán helped them secure a place in the playoff zone. In their most recent outing, however, they only managed a draw with Racing Avellaneda. Central Córdoba have looked more balanced and disciplined lately, managing to stay unbeaten in several of their recent fixtures. Their improved consistency, particularly defensively, suggests they could extend their solid run here as well.
Last season, at long last meeting in the Primera, both clubs won their respective home games. The hosts are given a slight edge, though not a convincing one. However, it’s difficult to expect full focus right after winning the cup. The bet here is on the visitors with a (0) handicap.
Prediction for the match: Central Cordoba to win with 0.0 handicap.
