Bayern are currently very close to perfect results. The Rekordmeister somehow managed to finish the season before last without a single trophy, hardly the fairytale move to Germany many expected. However, under Kompany they finally secured the Bundesliga title in the spring and then added the Super Cup at the start of the new season. After that, victories followed almost everywhere and across all competitions. Only a draw with Union disrupted the run domestically, while a Champions League loss to Arsenal stood out in Europe. In the previous round of that tournament, they picked up yet another win against Sporting Lisbon. Against a struggling Mainz, it seemed like another routine success was coming, but they dropped points and had to settle for a 2–2 draw. Even so, Bayern continue to deliver results at a very high level on a regular basis. Occasional slips do little to undermine their overall dominance and winning rhythm.
There have been only five head-to-head matches so far. With four wins for the Munich giants, they did suffer one defeat, losing 2–3 away to the Bundesliga newcomers in the spring of the season before last.
