Dynamo Kyiv take on the visitors Rangers Glasgow in the first leg of UEFA Champions League qualification semifinals. The match will be played on Tuesday, August 6th at Arena Lublin (Lublin).
Dynamo Kyiv managed to reclaim their usual second-place finish in the league table last season under Shovkovskiy. Despite this, their eternal rival, Shakhtar Donetsk, remained out of reach and secured yet another title. However, Alexander, the legendary goalkeeper and captain of Dynamo, replaced Lucescu as head coach, who had a disappointing end to his era in the capital. Thus, a breakthrough is expected from "SaSho" now, especially since several new players have been signed for him – Rubchynsky, Bragaru, Pikhaliyonok, and more. At the very least, they were well-prepared for Partizan and left them no chances, winning 6-2 in Lublin and then securing a 3-0 victory in Serbia. However, they lost Dyachuk and now need to replace their key center-back, with no chance to test an alternative in battle.

Glasgow Rangers are practically starting their season on Tuesday. The "Light Blues" are almost the Scottish equivalent of Dynamo. They too are a historical giant with many accolades but have been stuck in second place behind their old enemy, Celtic. They even faced bankruptcy and a long journey back to the top. Under Gerrard, they managed to win the title, preventing the "Hoops" from securing their tenth consecutive title. But after that, they have been limited to vice-championships. Nothing changed in that regard last season under Clement – the Belgian also lost 0-1 in the cup final to their eternal rival. However, Philippe moved to Scotland last autumn, so it was logical for him to retain his position. By the way, the new cycle has already begun – in the first round of the Scottish Premiership, the favorite only managed a goalless draw at Hearts' ground.
In the fall of 1987, also in the European Cup, Dynamo won 1-0 at home but then lost in Scotland, conceding twice without scoring. The "White-Blues" are, of course, only nominally the hosts, but they will have strong support from the fans and are simply showing more convincing play. We bet on a victory for the Ukrainians.
Prediction for the match: Dynamo Kyiv to win.
