Dinamo Minsk take on the visitors Ludogorets in the second leg of UEFA Champions League Qualification round of 1/8-finals. First leg result: 0-1. The match will be played on Wednesday, July 16th at Mezokovesdi Varosi Stadion (Mezőkövesdi).
Dinamo Minsk want to remain the top club in their country. The Blue and Whites have been known for a long time. As the representative of the Belarusian capital, they played in Soviet competitions (and occasionally in European cups — not without success). Unsurprisingly, they became the first champions of independent Belarus. However, they couldn’t maintain that dominance, as BATE went on to control the league for nearly two decades. Only in recent years did Dinamo rise again, finally reclaiming the title in 2023 after a long drought, and then successfully defending it the following season. Their domestic form dipped significantly in 2025 — they currently sit mid-table in the Vysshaya Liga and recently lost to league leaders ML Vitebsk. While their Belarusian Cup clash with Lokomotiv Gomel was postponed, the club has shifted full focus to the European stage.

Ludogorets were founded only at the beginning of this century. But it was clear from the outset — with one of the wealthiest local businessmen backing the project — that the ambitions would be sky-high. The result has been absolute domestic dominance, with the club winning every Bulgarian league title since 2012. European campaigns have proven more difficult, especially with recent struggles to reach the Champions League group stage. Last summer’s 2-7 home loss to Qarabag was a low point in UCL qualifying, and they collected just four points in the Europa League group phase. This time around, they aim to restore their reputation on the continental front. They began their current campaign with a late 1-0 win, thanks to a goal in the 87th minute, showing improved defensive resilience.
These clubs met in Champions League qualifiers a year ago. Ludogorets won 2-0 at home and then lost narrowly on neutral ground, which was enough to progress. The Bulgarian champions still look the stronger side. Back Ludogorets to win again in this fixture.
Prediction for the match: Ludogorets to win.
