Czechia take on the visitors Denmark in the final match of FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification. The match will be played on Tuesday, March 31st at epet ARENA (Prague).
Czech Republic show an interesting imbalance in their results. While performing well and, most importantly, regularly appearing at the European Championships, the team has hardly featured at World Cups. In last year’s qualification campaign, they were in a fairly comfortable group alongside Croatia national football team, who disappointed at UEFA Euro 2024, as well as Faroe Islands national football team, Montenegro national football team and Gibraltar national football team. However, they not only failed to challenge the “Checkered Ones,” who won the group comfortably, but even dropped points against the islanders. As a result, they once again finished second, sending Patrik Schick and company into the playoffs. Hosting Republic of Ireland national football team in the first match, they conceded a penalty and an own goal in quick succession in the first half. But they recovered and equalized in the 86th minute, eventually knocking their opponents out on penalties. Their recent performances suggest resilience, although consistency remains an issue.

Denmark do not want to break their streak of tournament appearances. The “Danish Dynamite” have not missed major tournaments for a long time. However, in recent ones, after the memorable UEFA Euro 2020, they have not produced anything particularly impressive. In 2024, they even managed to lose first place in their group due to poor results in November. First, they failed to beat Belarus national football team at home. Even after that 2-2 draw, they were still leading, but in the final round they lost away to Scotland national football team, who ultimately won the group battle with 13 points against Denmark’s 11. Having created problems for themselves by dropping into the playoffs, Brian Riemer’s side had no issues in the first round, comfortably beating North Macedonia national football team 4-0 after breaking the deadlock early in the second half. Their current form looks solid, especially against teams of a similar or lower level.
In the first two meetings at the end of the last century, the Czechs won both matches. However, since then they have managed only one victory in ten encounters. While they have lost only three times, they were beaten twice in the last three head-to-head matches. More confidence is placed in the visitors. However, a safer neutral option would be total over 2.0 goals.
Prediction for the match: Over 2.0 scored goals.
