Celje take on the visitors Flora in the second leg of 1/8-finals of EUFA Champions League qualification. First leg result: 5-0. The match will be played on Tuesday, July 16th at Stadion Z'dezele (Celje).
Celje began to make a mark in the times of independence. They were good at the republican level before, but the competition in Yugoslavia was too fierce overall. Even now, they tend to shine more in the cup format, reaching the cup final multiple times, though the decisive match was successful only in 2005. A decade and a half later, they clinched their first championship, and this spring, they secured another gold. This allowed the team, which performed well in the Conference League last year (eliminating Vitória Guimarães and Neman, and drawing with Maccabi Tel Aviv), to start in the qualifiers of a much more prestigious tournament. The first away match brought one of the biggest victories in their European competition history.

Flora doesn't seem ready for a major upset. The "Green-Whites" are one of the flagships of Estonian football. It's enough to say that the project, founded in 1990, has already amassed over a dozen titles. Moreover, in the last five seasons, they've only missed out on gold once. But, firstly, they rarely achieve anything significant in European competitions. Yes, they reached the group stage of the Conference League in 2022, but then lost to all opponents. And now, in the Meistriliiga, the favorites are failing, already trailing Levadia by a dozen points, having recently lost to them. At least that defeat was minimal, but they conceded a couple of goals by the 10th minute from the Slovenians at home, ultimately losing 0-5. This is, by the way, the fifth consecutive "dry" defeat in international competition for the Baltic team, and in Celje, they will try to finally score at least once.
Last Tuesday, the teams played their first match against each other. Everything seems clear here, and it’s hard to believe the Estonians will make a significant impact. Most likely, the hosts will once again win big on pure class. We bet on the representative of Slovenia to win with a handicap of "-2.0 goals".
Prediction for the match: Celje to win with -2.0 handicap.
