Brann take on the visitors Viking in the round 13 match of Norwegian Eliteserien. The match will be played on Sunday, July 13th at Brann Stadion (Bergen).
Brann are determined to achieve what slipped away in 2024. The “Pride of Bergen” have only sporadically reminded Norway of their past glory in recent years. In 2007, they captured their third league title — their first in nearly 50 years — and added a Norwegian Cup in 2022, just the seventh in club history. Last season could have marked another breakthrough, but despite Bodø/Glimt’s distractions from a deep Europa League run, they still finished three points ahead. In 2025, the reigning champions made it all the way to the semifinals in Europe, and this time Brann have capitalized on their inconsistency. Alexandersson’s side initially suffered a heavy 0-3 loss, but rebounded with a strong winning streak that temporarily put them top. However, the momentum dipped in late spring — including a disappointing home draw against HamKam in the last round.

Viking were once multiple-time champions, though all those titles came in the last century. In more recent memory, Stavanger has enjoyed a footballing revival — a Norwegian Cup win in 2019 shortly after promotion and a third-place finish in 2021 reignited belief. They repeated that top-three finish last season, just two points behind Brann and five off the champions. This year, they've surged into the title race again. Like Brann, Viking also began their campaign with a defeat but bounced back with a run of positive results, interrupted only by a few draws. Most recently, however, they suffered a surprising and wasteful 0-1 loss to Strømsgodset, failing to score despite dominating much of the game.
From 2020 to 2023, Viking managed to win five matches in a row. But last season both fixtures ended in 1-1 draws, showing how closely matched the sides have become. The visitors may find it difficult to snatch a win, but avoiding defeat is a realistic and solid result. Back Viking on a double chance — they should be able to get at least a point in Bergen.
