Bologna take on the visitors AS Roma in the round 34 match of Italian Serie A. The match will be played on Saturday, April 25th at Stadio Renato Dall'Ara (Bologna).
Bologna are unlikely to push themselves to the limit anymore. “The Rossoblù” have achieved something in each of the past few seasons. It all started two years ago, when under Thiago Motta they unexpectedly finished 5th in Serie A. In 2024/2025, already with Vincenzo Italiano, they struggled in the UEFA Champions League and dropped to mid-table in the league, but ended the season by winning the domestic cup. Their recent form has been inconsistent, with the team struggling to maintain the level they showed earlier in the campaign. They have occasionally improved in spring, but not enough to return to the fight for European places. This season, they performed well in the UEFA Europa League, reaching the quarter-finals after scoring an extra-time winner against their capital rivals. However, they were beaten by Aston Villa in both legs, 1–3 and 0–4. Domestically, after a promising start, they faded significantly and even with a slight improvement in spring, a top-7 finish was no longer realistic. Following a win over US Lecce, they failed to take points against Juventus, losing 0–2.

Roma announced the arrival of Gian Piero Gasperini last year, hoping he would finally bring them back to the Champions League — especially after Claudio Ranieri had fallen just one point short of overtaking Juventus for 4th place in 2024/2025. Their recent form has also dipped, with the team struggling to keep up with the leading group. They have shown flashes of quality but lacked consistency in decisive matches. For a long time, the capital club looked competitive, although they exited the cup early. By spring, however, a clear decline set in, including elimination from the Europa League round of 16 — ironically against Bologna — due to an extra-time goal. At the same time, results in Serie A worsened, and by April they had fallen well behind the top four. Even after a convincing win over Pisa SC, they managed only a draw against Gasperini’s former team, Atalanta BC.
Three of the last four meetings ended in draws. The only exception was a 1–0 win for Roma in August, although Bologna progressed in European competition last month. Roma have a chance to take revenge. Backing the visitors with a draw no bet option looks like a reasonable choice.
Prediction for the match: AS Roma to win with 0.0 handicap.
