Galway are doing reasonably well for their level. The “Maroon Army” once enjoyed their golden era back in the 1980s and 1990s, when they won the league and cup. More recently, the club earned promotion back to the Premier Division in 2023 and have since managed to stabilize. Matching or improving on that looks unlikely this time around, although their overall performance remains solid. At the 21-game mark, they had an even record of three wins, three draws, and three defeats, highlighting their inconsistency. Recently, they drew at home with fading champions Shelbourne, but then fell away to high-flying Drogheda in the following match.
Galway went unbeaten in four consecutive matches against Bohemians, but that streak was snapped in May when the Dublin side won away. The capital side are clearly stronger in this matchup. Expect them to prove it by securing a home win.
