Viking were once serial champions in Norway, although their last league title came back in 1991. They did manage to claim another Norwegian Cup in 2019 and secured third place in the Eliteserien last season. Now led by the coaching duo of Bjarte Lunde Aarsheim and Morten Jensen, Viking have started the new campaign in fine form. Despite a 1-3 loss to promoted Vålerenga in the opener, they’ve bounced back impressively, only dropping points to Tromsø and Sarpsborg while winning every other game. Most recently, they edged Kristiansund 1-0 to stay firmly atop the standings.
The sides traded home wins in 2023. Last season, Bodø/Glimt earned four of a possible six points, winning at home and drawing away in Stavanger. The reigning champions are obvious favorites at home, but Viking’s current form is being underestimated. We’ll take the risk and back the visitors to win with a -1.5 handicap.
