Sandefjord are showing respectable progress by their standards. The “Whales” have never really achieved much at the national level. Their biggest highlight remains a Norwegian Cup final appearance back in 2006, which still ended in defeat. In recent years, their goal has been simply to avoid relegation, and they met that objective last season by finishing 10th. This season, however, they have looked more confident and competitive. Although they still lose nearly half their matches, the other half often result in wins, which has allowed them to climb into the upper half of the table. Most recently, they pulled off a strong 2-0 win over Rosenborg, a performance that saw them leapfrog the reigning champions in the standings.
Bodø/Glimt had won five consecutive meetings before 2024. However, last season they managed just one point from two encounters against Sandefjord.
