Bodo/Glimt vs Lazio Prediction 10 April 2025

Bodo/Glimt take on the visitors Lazio in the first leg of UEFA Europa League quarterfinals. The match will be played on Thursday, April 10th at Aspmyra Stadion (Bodø).

Bodø/Glimt burst onto the scene among Europe’s more respected football clubs. In 2020, they claimed their first-ever Eliteserien title, and by last autumn, they had already secured their fourth domestic championship. They've also proven consistently strong in European competitions. What continues to elude them, however, is a place in the Champions League group stage. Last August, they fell at the final hurdle, losing out to Crvena Zvezda despite winning the first leg at home. In the Europa League, they picked up four wins and 14 points in the group stage. In the knockout rounds, Kjetil Knutsen’s men, still without domestic match practice (as the new Norwegian season only kicked off in late March), overcame both Twente and Olympiacos. Crucially, they earned emphatic home victories, having lost both away legs 1-2. Their attacking football and home dominance have become trademarks on the continental stage.

Lazio likely don’t see this tournament as a top priority. The Eagles slipped from 2nd to 6th in Serie A last season. Their new head coach, Marco Baroni, is well aware that his performance will primarily be judged on domestic success. However, things haven’t gone smoothly in the league, and with intense competition and shocking defeats like the 0-5 loss to Bologna, their chances of climbing into the top four are fading. In Europe, though, Lazio began by fielding a heavily rotated squad — and still performed impressively. They picked up 19 points in the group stage, matching Athletic for the best record. In the Round of 16, they narrowly eliminated Viktoria Plzeň, thanks to a dramatic winner in stoppage time of the first leg and a goalless draw in the return. Lazio have been defensively solid but less convincing in attack, especially away from home. Baroni continues to rotate the squad in Europe, which could give the hosts an edge.

Although the Black and Yellows have made a name for themselves in recent European campaigns, they've never previously faced this Roman giant in official competition. The Sky Blues are viewed as clear favorites even away from home. However, this feels like an underestimation of the Norwegians — they should be able to avoid defeat in front of their home crowd.

Prediction for the match: Bodo/Glimt not to lose (1X).
